
The first ever GNOME.Asia Summit was held at the Beihang university, Beijing, China , from October 18th to 19th , 2008. GNOME Foundation is organizing GNOME.Asia Summit in collaboration with Sun Microsystems, Beijing Linux User Group (BLUG) and China OSS Promotion Union (COPU).More than 500 people have participated into this summit. During the two day summit there were a variety of presentations focusing on growing the Asia GNOME community and showcasing GNOME platform technologies.

With over 1000 participants, 109 talks, presentations and panels, 79 speakers and 138 volunteers at the GNOME.Asia Summit 2009, Vietnam has established itself as one of the top events locations for Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in Asia. Not only we got to attract GNOME and other Open Source communities and developers from neighboring countries but we have to admit we also got the most energetic and wild volunteers ever to support us during the conference!
